C.A.T.S. is a sports league for children with developmental disabilities designed to improve the quality of life through team sports participation. Through weekly engagement in games; players will gain confidence, social skills, gross motor skills, behavior skills, and the opportunity to be part of community-based settings. The goal of C.A.T.S. is for children that are not able to participate in typical functioning team sports programs to have the opportunity of participating in all of the same activities, experiences, and friendships created through sports.
CATS provides an opportunity for any child with developmental disabilities to play basketball or soccer. Children are grouped based on ability, not age or grade. Any significant behavior or health concerns will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Safety is the primary concern for all players when determining participation in CATS.
Games are played on the weekends at the various indoor sports facilities and community centers in Northern Virginia. Seasons consist of 8 games and go year round. Coaches & referees are trained volunteers. All of our staff is dedicated to providing a fun and enjoyable hour of exercise and social interaction! Awards ceremonies are held at the end of each season to ensure each child is recognized with a trophy!
CATS is excited to announce that there is a new program being added to serve our athletes! CATS Cheer has found a home at Phase Cheer and Dance
Any interested athletes are encouraged to send an email directly to firstname.lastname@example.org
with your child's information. This program will differ from our other
program. CATS Cheer will be a year round program, with monthly dues.
This will cover the cost of competitions that the girls will participate
in throughout the year. They will have the opportunity to cheer at
local competitions, including one at Kings Dominion. Practice will be
held weekly on Sundays at 12:00pm. Cheer uniforms and shirts
will be rented at an additional cost. The program will be run by Senior
Cheerleaders as well as experienced coach from Phase Cheer and Dance, Holly Senn. Margarita Benavides will also be part of the program to provide support and training
regarding redirection, instruction, and reinforcement as it relates to your athletes' individual needs. Please take some time to look at their website
to learn more about them. Please email email@example.com with your child's information if you are interested!
