CATS is a sports league for children with developmental disabilities designed to improve the quality of life through team sports participation. Through weekly engagement in games; players will gain confidence, social skills, gross motor skills, behavior skills, and the opportunity to be part of community-based settings. The goal of CATS is for children that are not able to participate in typical functioning team sports programs to have the opportunity of participating in all of the same activities, experiences, and friendships created through sports.
CATS provides an opportunity for any child with developmental disabilities to play team sports. Children are grouped based on ability, not age or grade. Any significant behavior or health concerns will be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Safety is the primary concern for all players when determining participation in CATS.
Games are played on the weekends at the various indoor sports facilities and community centers in Northern Virginia. Seasons consist of 6 games and go year round. Coaches & referees are trained volunteers. All of our staff is dedicated to providing a fun and enjoyable hour of exercise and social interaction! Awards ceremonies are held at the end of each season to ensure each child is recognized with a trophy!
